The Cherokee used word “Shaconage” to describe the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which means “Blue, like smoke. In the entire Eastern United States, Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the largest protected land. The conserve has diverse variety of animals as well as plants species. Not only tourists or traveler are attracted to this park but also scientists from all over the world come here to discover new species of flora and fauna in these ancient mountains. The Great Smoky Mountains are a mountain range that rises by the side of the border of the southeastern United States, Tennessee-North Carolina. The mountains are substitute range of the Appalachian Mountains, which form part of the Province of Blue Ridge Physiographic. Most of the time people called those ranges as smoky mountains or smokies for short. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park protects many smokies range. The park was found in 1934, and has more than 9 million visitors annually, thus making it United States’ most-visited national park.
The park is not only world heritage of the United States but also UNESCO enlisted it’s name in World Heritage site. The significant of the park is its natural characteristics as well as the park preserves Native American sites. It is the keeper of many interesting stories too of Native American and Southern Appalachian lingo architectures’ impressive collections.
All year round, the beauty of the park allures many visitors. It displays variety of season phases, which are colorful and mesmerizing. The magnificent waterfalls, beautiful colorful wildflowers, soothing Mountain Rivers, diverse flora and 
fauna as well as the glory of the forest can be seen in leaves who changes into brilliant colors of orange, gold and red; are just amazing to see. The national park extents from the eastern Tennessee to the western North Carolina and covers forest land measuring 500,000 acres. The Great Smoky Mountains have beautiful temperate deciduous forest. End of April to beginning of May period time, many migratory birds as well as colorful wildflowers can be seen. Visit in the mid of October to see the pageantry autumn color in the Smoky Mountains. There are many trails, measuring 800 miles, which goes around the mountains through the waterfalls, balds, coves, and cascading streams. The other attraction, which will give you fantastic scenic views of the Great Smoky Mountains and breathtaking views of Fontana Dam, is the Great Smoky Mountains Railroads.
Season is no barrier to visit this park. Even if you visit unplanned, you will think this season was right time to visit. It is recommended to visit each season of a year. You will be surprised and amazed by its all year beauty.
To see many colors in a season then visit between mid October and mid November, as during that period of time, it rains and temperature drops, causing the leaves to change its colors. The entire landscape of the forest is breathtaking.
